We have a Partner ACS R1.0 Processor that has never been upgraded. We currently have 3 incoming lines. We want to expand to 5 incoming lines. So I purchased a 5 Slot carrier and a 308EC R3.0. After installing the carrier and both modules, the 308EC lights flashed on but went immediately back off. After doing some research, the 308EC has to have a R3.0 or higher processor to work. Is this true?? If so, I went onto ebay to look for an upgrade card. There is a guy that sales a multi-use card to upgrade to R6.0B. Now, If I just upgrade the software, will it make it compatible for the 308EC??? Or would it be better just to purchase a R3.0 processor?

As far as I know there is no upgrade. F16 is the only way.

I think you posted your answer twice, since you posted the same answer in my other topic. Not the right answer for installing the 308EC.
Thanks for the answer to the other question.

Jonus, My answer only for the Name CID. For the 308EC card it's only compatible with Rel.1.1 and higher. You can upgrade only up to Rel. 6.0 but you can't upgrade to 7.0 because it is totally new card. From 1.1 and up you will have no problems with 308EC

Yes, you can flash a R.1 to a R.6. 308ec cards won't work on a R.1. So you will need to flash the R.1 or buy a new control unit in order to use the 308ec's.

Well, technically you are supposed to upgrade only an R1.1 or higher but an R1 does work.
I would suggest replacing the R1 though. It is the original ACS and quite old. My experience has been that it probably hasn't much time left. I would rather spend money on a new unit than spend money on an upgrade and have the ACS fail in six months.

Thanks for the answer on both threads. I wasn't for sure if I upgraded to R6 if it would give me the options I was looking for or if I actually had to buy a R6. Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to follow Hal advice and actually going to go ahead and buy a R6 because of the age of the R1.
Thanks, Jonus
