How is the Merlin 410 programmed? By the phone or by computer? If it is on the computer, does it require a special cable? Thanks.

It is strictly programmed through the first phone, ext. 10. I assure you that there is no computer interface or cable required to program a Merlin 410.
Edit: Double post, sort of.

They didn't have computers in those days. All 206, 410 and 820D2 Merlins program basically the same from extension 10. Each new generation builds on the previous just adding new features. Even the Legend and Partner have it's roots there. You can find the installation and programming docs on the Avaya site under support. -Hal

You guys are amazing! I'm thinking of getting myself a 410 for house use. Does it have automated attendant, and if so, I doubt it, but if it does, can it be turned off? Dad and I discussed a phone system for the house, and he wanted to make sure that calling parties didn't think we were a business.

On another note: I seem to recall from another post that the Merlin phones used 4 pair wire..

4-pair wiring: Yes. Auto attendant: Absolutely not, unless you get the Merlin Plus (820D2) with the optional "busy buster" card that provides limited auto attendant functionality, but no voice mail capabilities.

Excellent. I'm going to try and get my hands on one of these systems.

I'm sure we have several laying around collecting dust. I'll take a look around and shoot you a PM. Might be early next week before I get a chance to look.
