Yes, at the bottom of your system's processor module, there is a battery compartment that contains the memory retention batteries. Replace these as soon as possible to avoid having to reprogram the entire system.

Use two AAA Duracells and make sure you do it with the power on. After you replace them confirm that the message has gone away. If not make sure you have the polarity correct and there is no corrosion on the battery holder contacts.

Yes. The holder is located under the "cable gatherer" on the front of the processor.

Does it have to be Duracell batteries? I replaced them with Energizer and the message at ext 10 went from a solid message back to a blinking message. Or, what else could be the cause? Also, we had a power outage for approx. a minute on Saturday and now ext. 10-17, which are on that card only have static on the line when you pick up the handset. Could that have wiped out the programming for those phones?

Energizers are fine. I have no idea what you are talking about with a blinking replace battery message. Maybe it's the bunny banging his drum.
Static is not caused by programming.
My opinion is if I were you I would start saving my nickels and dimes for a new system.
Oh and start your own thread instead of glomming onto an existing one. I thought I was responding to the original poster.
