On a new 409 module set up for a small motel, the customer reports that the phone at extension 18 will start ringing. When they answer the call no body there. This may happen about two times a day.
So I did a system initialization, then reprogrammed it and was getting ready to leave and it happend agian. This time I got to see for my self what it was doing. I set up a single line phone next to the 18D. I also have DSS keys programed on the 18D, and when the single line rang (18) I also saw ext 17 light up. My ? why!!!

Was there someone at Ext 17, trying to dial an "800" number, but not pressing a line?

Happens a lot of the time. On the wire feeding the room where 17 is, are there any junctions? Is there a chance that another device (fax or CC modem) os on that cable?

They have not opened for business yet. In the last month of getting ready to open this is happening one to two times a day.

Try unplugging the line cord from the processor and see if the problem persists.

Make sure your VM extensions are assigned properly.

Maybe 17 is the fax and 18 is the manager?
Even if your not using it I'd check the programming.
