Have a customer looking to have IP Office IP500 V2 installed with 26 copper co lines and want 22 lines put on button (like a key system so users can pickup and put calls on hold) of M4424D phones and on 5621 IP phones (there is a remote office). I hear that I need to allow the phones to be intruded. Has any installed a system like this?

I got to ask:
With 26 POTS lines, why not use a T-1/PRI and the call park feature?

I have a similar demand from my systems, as a Fire Dept Dispatch center I cannot put all my "Eggs" in 1 T-1 basket. I have 4424 phones and they are the only ones I have trouble with on IP Office.

Edit: To remove bashing of product.

I'm sure your customer could save money by upgrading to a T-1.

Not to mention that you have button limitations.
See the knowledgebase:
https://marketingtools.avaya.com/kn...ager/index.htm?html_prog_appearances.htm

Specifically:
How many buttons are allowed?
The recommended limits are as follows:
• A maximum of 10 bridged appearances to the same call appearance.
• A maximum of 10 line appearances to the same line.
• A maximum of 10 call coverages of the same covered user.

I tried a system that the customer upgraded from Partner ACS with mostly 34D, sets. We had 15 1616 with 1 BM32 on each....the BM32 would "disconnect" a few times a day, or the button indicators would not be accurate.

IP Office isn't the best key system - just not built that way. I have a hard time imagining any key system with 22 line appearances - I'd be pressing the wrong line constantly. But to each their own...

Yes, it will let you do most anything...that is where knowing the programming and the correct ways to do things will make a HUGE difference.

Go ahead and try it. But you will be losing a customer and making yourself look bad.
