The following is also posted in the insatallers forum: A customer called asking for advice. We have done extensive data cabling and phone extension moves in the past. We have not done any programming on their Merlin Legend.
They say that quite frequently but intermittently, a particular extension calls a certain extension in another organization via long distance after entering an access code. The call appears to ring the called phone and appears to connect, but then disconnects soon after. Other extensions on the system call other phone extensions at the same organization and never have this trouble. The extension that has the issue is trying to make legitimate calls. Some go through, some do not. Does anyone have any trouble shooting suggestions?

With all the variables involved, I am amazed when any voice and data technology works like it is supposed to.

What type of trunks? Does the problem only happen when extension X of company A calls extension Y of company B?

Might be worth pulling down a system print and looking at the extension in question compared to the extensions that are not having the problem.

Also might be worth doing a DTMF check on the extension in question.

Does the extension number happen to be the same number as the area code they are trying to call? Idahos area code is 208 I used to leave ext 208 out of the dial plan due to the fact that some many people used to forget to dial the 9. Just a thought.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am waiting for the customer to get back to me with what they want to do next.
