I have a system that I am setting up for a customer. It has 1 TCM8 card for Nortel phones and an ATM4. This came to me as 6.1 and I upgraded to Rls7(5). I put a test POTS line in the system and was receiving Caller ID, the number, on an incoming call. I upgraded to Rls7(12) and now I do not get Caller ID, the number, until I pick up the handset. What shows in the display is "External>Main". When I monitor the call coming in I am only getting the number and not the name. However, when I connect the same test POTS line to our demo system which is at 6.1, which has 1400 series phones, I get both name and number, so I know the carrier is sending both name and number. It seems that when I upgraded to Rls7(12) it now is looking for name first and not number. I cannot find where I can set the IPO to show number first. I know that the M series phones display is different than the Avaya phones, but that is not an issue. Any thoughts? :bang:

Is the call delivered to the telephone directly or via a hunt group? There is no control in IPO to modify how CID is displayed. It is what it is. Mike

I have tested the call coming directly to the extension and also to the hunt group. I completed several tests including taking it back to 6.1(12) with a 5410 and testing, then to 7.0(5) with a 5410 and M7310. I got Caller ID on the 5410 but did not on the M7310 until I picked up the phone. We have another system on 7.0(12) with a PRI that if the carrier sends the name it will show on the screen. However, if no name is sent or received then the number only comes up when the handset is picked up. The system I am working with will not even show the name. I have verified that the name is being sent because I can get the name on the 5410.

Can you temporarily default and reconfig just enough to prove that the trouble isn't in the config somewhere? It would be odd that two different systems on same firmware would have different behaviors. Mike

Just to recap - you have two systems with TCM8 cards and PRI. One of them shows caller ID appropriately on 7.0(12) and the other doesn't. Is that correct? If that is correct, you need to look at the differences between the sites - such as carrier and PRI config. I hate these situations because they generally engulf large segments of time. Good luck. PS, I'm turning up a system with 7.0(12), PRI and TCM8 on Tuesday. We'll see what we see. Mike

We have a system with a TCM8 card and analog trunks. The other is with a TCM8 card and PRI. The PRI will sometimes show name. The analog will never show name and only number when the handset is picked up. I have verified that name is being sent on the analog. We escalated this up to Avaya.

I am having the same issues on 7.0.5 with Flowroute SIP trunks on a T7316e and a T7406E. Will let you know what I find.

FYI - we turned up our R7.0.12 with PRI and TCM8 cards (and DS16A mod) - and caller ID works each and every time. Mike
