I have noticed on ebay and similar websites people selling license cards "for" Partner Messaging that appear to be aftermarket. They have no Avaya logo, and appear to be a cheap knock off. Does anyone know anything about these?

Yes, that's the one.. any guesses who makes these? or why? It seems to me if they are going to charge what you would pay for the real deal it defeats the purpose of counterfeiting!

I checked 2 online websites and the used legit 6-Port cards are more expensive than this eBay.
The pictured PCMCIA is counterfeit and the seller is setting a price that would make it hard for an unsuspecting buyer to pass up.

What a crazy world we live in.. Even port cards are being counterfeited! I wonder if the fakes will start showing up with a copied Avaya logo. I guess we all need to purchase from trusted sources and be careful what we buy. Thanks for the help!

I know that there are counterfeit Avaya phones being sold by one of the well known purveyors of phone gear and that's probably just the tip of the iceburg. When that was brought up the question was asked as to why the buyer should care as long as the price is cheap.
Unless you have been living in a cave there is enough information out there regarding the Chinese manufacturers that produce counterfeit goods and the products to make me worry if using something like that card or a phone will cause problems or damage to my system.
Unfortunately people will always be ignorant when they see something on the internet. Whether it's gray market or counterfeit they only care about what a great deal they are getting.

A lot of counterfit items are "midnight runs". Lets take SD cards for example, made by SanDisk. The factory might crank out 10000 of them for the day before they shut down. A few of the workers get back in after hours and burn off a few hundred to sell on their own. Same card, just lacks the branding and packaging.
Now... If the stuff was made in somewhere other than China, say North America for example, SanDisk would probably not have to worry as much about competing with itself!

Well the ebay item in question is absolutely counterfeit. I have tested such cards in my lab and found that while they work as Port Cards, THEY WILL NOT DO A BACK UP.
The LEGIT Cards are "fatter" on both sides in most of the area of the card. This is just a generic memory card that can't do the full job of a Port Card.

After more investigation, I have found that there is a company on the internet that sells counterfeit Avaya port card decals just like the Avaya originals. Conveniently enough, they only come in a 6 port variant, but they do have the logo, basic design & color right however those with a keen eye will notice the logo is slightly off, and the lettering that reads "6 port" is a little fatter than the lettering Avaya uses. Check out this link to the fake label: https://www.abtelephone.com/catalog/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=124
