It still sounds like a CO line card issue within his Telephone system to me . That static and poping sounds like a card not making good contact at times to the system backplane . My humble opinion .

The best test I can think of at this point is to pull the jumpers or bridge clips from the nid and test with a butt set from the nid, if you get noise at the nid and no IW/CPE is attached then it is a carrier trouble, if no noise at the nid then it will either be in the IW or the CPE.
I have to say you guys are starting to sway me towards a CPE issue though.

Yeah it was that 3 out of 4 CO line info that leans me towards the CPE side . My guess is the system has 1 CO card . I don't know Vodavi so I may be way off base . My opinion

I have been selling and installing the Vodavi STS product line since it's introduction and have never encountered this problem.

Unfortunately, if this is the case, it's going to be a fairly significant problem since the first four lines of the system are incorporated on the mother board. There's not a simple card replacement option, however, an additional 4-port line card can be added to bypass the original four. It's not a simple plug and play procedure though; a technician will be needed to move the lines and program the system.

Tres sample'. Put a single line phone on each of the four lines (in parallel).

When you have static on a line, pick up the associated single line phone and see if you hear the static on it. Then hang up the Vodavi phone while still listening to the single line phone.

If the static is within the Vodavi system, you will probably hear it on the Vodavi phone but not on the single line phone and once you hang up the Vodavi phone if the static is still there you absolutely have a line problem and if clear as a bell you have a Vodavi problem.

Claire, sample, facile. Au revoir.

Sorry, I thought they had spent a lot of time so far not getting this fixed. Sorry, I didn't know the phone room was in the next county. Sorry, I didn't know this was so insignificant no one could be bothered to help resolve it.

Yes, on further introspection, I think if this problem is ignored it will just go away. I retract my suggestion of trying to fix it. It is always good to take a second look at things and realize the errors of our ways.

we have been having an issue at our office of the same type scenario and we have actually caught it while i wa here and had the customer hold on the line while i tapped on at the dmarc and then cut the jumper and the problem remained and reproduced several times and the LEC here Verizon had kept pointing there fingers to our equipment even though i had reporduced the problem coming from there test jack.

They changed pairs but would not change there CO cards due to taking to many customers of their own down. so we got to talk to supervisor in the repair dept. and we talked and he wanted to wait and see if they had anny complaints from other customers coming out of the same exchange that we were coming from before they took it any farther. so a couple of days later they find that other customers are complaining but our contact the supervisor had passed away from a massive heart attack(god bless him, great guy and very helpful, i'm sure he is in a better place, RIP) but no we are back to square one call the repair and now we are ging to have to duke it out. i guess if it gets to the point we are gonna have to call the PUC about it.
