Sqeaky, I think some basic knowledge of networks would have fixed your trouble. As toner stated above you have to be in the same address range as the device you are trying to connect to. Computers are default configured to accept an address given to them by a router or server. The callpilot does not have the ability to assign you an address therefore you must set that address yourself through the network settings of your computer. gateways and subnets are not important here as long as you are in the same ip range.

Yes, the first three segments of the IP need to match, that is what threw me. The other things you mentioned I knew. I was wrong about the manual.

you can access the Callpilot using PC through RS232 port to check and change all parameters,including setting LAN port on or off ,IP address subnet marks and so on.
