I hope there is an easy answer to this...I have configured Call Pilot on a BCM to "guarantee fax delivery" per their specs. However, it seems that some fax machines wait to hear an actual fax answer before they start sending. Since the BCM is also waiting to hear a fax tone before sending, they sit there waiting for each other, and no fax gets sent. Is there any way I can spoof the sender into thinking they hit a fax machine...not just a voicemail that can store faxes?

What if you send it to a mailbox that immediately on answering plays one recorded cycle of the fax tones for "hello, I am a fax, I am waiting for you to talk back to me?"

Then that mailbox would immediately chain to one with a second of silence and start recording.

Thanks for bringing up a challenge that I had never thought of before. Someone who is more expert in the bowels of the Call Pilot may have a better answer but if not then this Rube Goldberg trick might work.

I thought of that - I just need to get a recorder on a fax machine, and make sure I record the correct side of the handshake (the receiving side)...if that truly makes a difference. Thanks for the feedback!

Nortel can dial in and change the express messaging line from voice/fax to fax only - it will then answer with a fax tone. Unfortunately, it isn't accessible to the administrators on BCM 200/400, but the BCM 50 gives the option to make the line a fax only line.
