My office is getting a new phone system.

Currently, we are using an old AT&T Partner Plus.
We have 4 incoming lines and 11 extensions. We need a good voicemail system, but other than that our needs are pretty basic. We will not add more than 1 or 2 more extensions. I'm not planning on going to VOIP.

We have gotten 3 quotes so far. All were for NEC systems. A DS2000, IPK and IPK II.

How does a Norstar CICS system compare to these NEC systems for my usage? I've seen lots of refurbished Norstar CICS systems and I'm thinking one of those might be just what I need.

Thanks for the help,

I don't know the NEC systems so I can't give you any input there, but the CICS is made for that exact size and is very user friendly and the phones will last you long time.

Just my opinion, why don't you just upgrade the Partner to 308 and 308EC with a PCM Mail large will give you max 16 m/b's. The system will be configured 6X16 and you can keep the sets, thats if there in good shape. Also I think the Partner is a snap to program. Very user friendly more so then the CICS.

I've decided to upgrade to a avaya acs parter.

I like that I can reuse phones and it will work like what we are use to.

I'm thinking of getting a new control unit and
Avaya Partner Messaging R7 Main Module with a 4 port voicemail card for it. We are very busy from Janaury to April and I think we will have a lot of voicemail activity.

Thanks for the suggestions

The cics with call pilot is 4 port/10 mb's out of box, add couple mb's with upgrade lic. Can use call id cards or not. Many good package deals with 5-6 phones now ,add phones as needed. Can only have 14 ext. on standard expanded software. can add card/upgrade to bring total ext. count to 24 less voicemail ext. When a comparison of partner mess., plus acs cost- against norstar ksu plus call pilot, check features and reliability. Good post on acs r7 default/power issues in avaya section.
