Does anyone know of a service bulletin or recall from Nortel concerning BCM power cords? We had an issue with a system in NY and that was part of the solution. Now another of our systems is showing identical signs.

I've heard of no such issue with power cords.

First - Can you tell us what the symptoms were?? Second - I did hear of a power cord issue that Nortel had, but it was so,so many years ago that I can't remember the product line. It may have been the BCM or it may have been some other equipment. But that was so long ago that you should not be seeing the problem now. (and I am not thinking of the Call Pilot Power Supply issue - this was long time before that even)

I have had to install y cable assembly in the BCM for power issues. This helped remedy intermittant system failures.

Y cable??? That sounds more like an internal power cable for drives, etc... than the power cord that plugs into the wall. Haven't heard of any internal Cable issues before.

I think mundo22 has it. I'm having the failure issue on a recently installed BCM 400 and had it on a system earlier this year but couldn't remember exactly what cord it was that they replaced. Our tech was not aware of any such problem.

Not saying that Mundo22 is wrong, I was just going off the orig post - saying power cord. There may be some problems that people have found on the power cables inside. Give input everyone.

If the systems are intermittantly shutting down then coming back up. The Y-Cable will more than likely take care of this issue for you. It takes just a couple of minutes to complete. The only issue we had was having to do the swap before hours of operation due to dropping the power. Hope that helps!
