Trying to help a client with installing a softphone on BCM-50. Local Network - we got it working just fine. Now he took a laptop back to his appartment. Loaded up the softphone and tried to connect. We can make a phone call out. We can receive a phone call in. Problem is, can't hear either party. No talk - No listen.
Any ideas where the problem is? My guess is something in the firewall, router, etc... But any guess as to what to look for? What do we need to change?? Do we have to open a SPECIFIC PORT?? Which one?
Any help would be great.
By the way, I tried it on my office computer as well with the same results. No talk, No listen.
So it is not the PC.......at least that is our guess.
Thanks

Hey NT,

Sorry about answering late.

It sounds like the customer's ISP could be blocking RTP. I've heard that some ISPs were considering doing that, but haven't ran into it in my area.

The default RTP ports used with a BCM50 are UDP 28000-28255. Ports over 1024 are typically not blocked through an ISP. But, they would have the ability to block a protocol, regardless of the ports being used. I would just make a call to the ISP to see if that is where the problem lies.

Good luck!

Thanks Marty.
I will check into that.
I wasn't sure where to start.

Appreciate the reply.
