norstar dr5 ds with flash 2 port vm

Is there any programming that has to be done on the ksu side in particular for flash to work proper? How does the phone system know which port flash is connected to? If I hook flash to dn 36 ,does the 2nd port get assigned 37? How does that work? Thanks, been a while since I've fooled with a flash.

What type of system?

Normally, no special programming unless this is an mod 8x24 and it might be upgraded. If so set it up for 3 digit ext #'s first and save future headaches.

Usually have the VM on the last 2 ports of the main system. System will automatically know which ports are connected. If this is an 8x24 then yes if you insist on connecting to DN36, the 2nd port would be DN37. No programming to do for the 2nd port of the VM, it'll roll automatically to it when the 1st port is used.

It's a 616.... So if I have a 2 port system I can hook to 35 and leave 36 open? Is that right?

If it's a 6x16, connect to both ports 35 & 36. If you only connect to one you're losing half of the VM.

Most installers I know connect the VM to the last ports, then before the VM, things like ATA's. The reason: some users insist on consecutive numbering for their normal extensions. Heck I even had a client that had me come in & change all the DN's to be consecutive from his desk according to the floor plan.

A Flash 2 only needs to be hooked up to 1 port, it uses the A&B sides of port

I just re-read the post. BizTel is right, but reserve dn36 in case you upgrade to a Flash 4. S/ware needs to be at least 1.36 according to my chart. Your system s/ware has to minimum SP: 30NSE08 for enf/french or 30NTE08 for eng/spanish.

One more question, if I may... On the Flash, is there a way to log in to sys coordinator mailbox (remotely) and make changes to MBOX ,AA and CCR like I can with Feature 983 on-site??
