I'm not a technician, just a provider of on-hold messages. Most of my customers use the Nortel CICS model phone system.
I have a customer who recently dusted off one of her phones and accidentally pushed some sequence of buttons (apparently) and now the phone only picks up the intercom. Is it possible she initiated some feature that can be shut off so she can dial out again?
I told her I'd research the matter as a favor. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

One of the intercom buttons (if two are programmed) are stuck down. Have the customer unplug the phone and wiggle the intercom button or buttons. Just for good measure, wiggle all the button caps. The button might not be stuck down far enough to notice, but that should fix it.

What is the model of the phone?
Are you (or is she) absolutely positive that when picking up the handset with the phone NOT ringing that she had an outside line?
She could not have done any feature code to remove this ability that I know of.
Funny how some people will swear by something just to be proven wrong.
