Any thoughts on why I get an error code when trying to connect to a BCM 50 3.0 through ELement Manager? It downloads fine, as does the BCM manager from which I can view the unit, but when I connect I get an error code. I can validate the device and it knows something is there, but can't identify it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Element manager a few times, it doesn't fix it.

The second part of the question is I was told there were some patches availabe, they were just issued on 5/22. I down loaded the patches, unzipped the files, stuck the memory stick in the BCM thinking they may be self extracting files and nothing. If I can't get to element manager, how do I install the patches?

Thanks,
Beth

Judging by the error you are decribing You are probably using an incorrect password.

Patches are noy self extracting.

What IP address are you using for your PC's TCP/IP protocol?

Marv, it isn't the Password..........

Vad, I used the 10.10.11.2

Something interesting though, I CAN connect to the element manager & BCM 50 from my desk top, just not my lap top which in reality is pointless, I can't take my desk top on site. It has to be a setting in my Laptop of some type. I deleted all prior BCM manager programs on the lap top thinking it was a conflict (also Nortel notes told me so), reinstalled the Element manager and same error code. I am running Windows XP with SP2 on the laptop and desk top.

I am going to clear my cashe and history from the laptop and see if that helps at all. I'm stumped and so it tech support.

Laptop on site? or remote? Which port are you connecting to... direct or through a switch.

make sure your subnet is:255.255.255.252. last three didgits is very importent. usually it's a 0. Try 10.10.11.5 instead of 2. Unless it's not a 1 you are fine.

This makes no sense. Default mask is 255.255.255.0

Vad, All those settings are right, even the sub net.

Marv, I have the BCM 50 in my office after not being able to connect to it from my lap top on site.

After spending time with Nortel Tech support regarding the error message, I decided to try connecting from my desk top unit and was able to connect.

It is a setting some where in my LT, I think.......
