Try logging into through the serial connection.

I thought i'd carry on with this fairly recent thread instead of starting a new one with similar premise.

We bought a used BCM200 which came with some upgrade keycodes with the idea that we would set up SIP trunking to see what we could make work between different vendor equipment - most notibly Nortel and Samsung. The bcm would be our testbed.

We have full access to Nortel KRS and the website to download patches, updates, generate keycodes etc, and have downloaded the upgrades to 4.0.

When we picked up the system, it booted and ran fine, we were able to log in using the web interface and the telnet interface, and ran the nortel provided 'precheck 1.0.6' which passed - in preparation for the upgrade to 4.0.

It was shut down properly, at which point I pulled the tray out to check for the capacitor colour - blue is the "good" colour - which this tray has. I rebooted it to confirm I didnt besmirch it by opening the tray - everything checked out ok.

It then sat on its side on the test bench for a few weeks - powered off waiting for some free time to do the upgrade to 4.0 - which I thought would be today - but like the others posting before - the phone services come up but all the lights are flashing, no voicemail.

Would one of you fine techs be able to pvt msg me what I should see on the serial interface as the next step? Should it be the same as the Telnet interface?
Any ideas or a kick in the right direction would be helpful

You should see a login screen. Use hyper terminal (9600,8-N-1) and a DB9 computer to computer cable. Use the same login as unified manager.

Hey thanks for the help, - I got nothing out of the serial port with either a str8 through or a cross over cable. When I power cycled the switch, i got a little garbage with the cross over... I think its looking like a hard drive issue.

I think there is a monitor port on the BCM-200. Plug in a monitor, then reboot. What comes up on the screen??

Sorry Vernon. Maybe that monitor plug is only on the BCM-1000
