Is there an application out that will allow you to install say with serial port module and software to connect your computer to your extension? I have a M2616 set on my desk. I want to be able to place a call from Outlook with out having to go from computer to phone every time.

What kind of switch is this hooked up to? I doubt what you are asking is possible. The data feature in those phones was designed to allow you to hook up a computer/dumb terminal/other RS232 device so it could multiplex with the voice & signalling on the digital line. That data line passes through the phone to the switch, and I don't believe it can be used to communicate directly with the phone. I've seen a couple of CTI applications on SL1s, but the computer interfaces to the card via a dedicated CE pack. Nothing I've seen would indicate any differently. On the other hand, I don't know what kind of switch you're talking about, so I can't say with any certaintly.

I seem to remember doing this by putting an analogue phone jack at the desk that was the same DN as the prime DN of the M2616 connected to a modem card in the P.C. If I remember correctly there is no privacy on a mixed extension so you could pick up the 2616 and dial out through Outlook. Just a thought if privacy were an issue you could deal with it in the stations CLS. Might be worth a try.

Hmmm...that might actually work...just for grins I may configure such a thing when I have a free moment and see how it performs...
