I remembered once I picked up a high end investment magazine and Panasonic had a full page AD showing a large mansion and it said something like " Don't you think your house should enjoy the same sophisticated phone system used by corporations"
Anyway, I was wondering which is the phone system that Panasonic really tries to market mostly to large houses? Is it basically their brand or was it a particular series or model phone phone system?
Also, is there anything really unique about Panasonic that makes it more marketable to residential phone system vs other phone systems?
Thanks.

Jim, I use the Panasonic line of small systems because they are hybrid and highly flexible with a lot of add-ons. They are basic (any one that can read can program it --- look at me !! ). Currently the KXTA824 is the only small system of that type in their line-up. They may still have the KWTA848 but it is part wireless and I have not kept up with it as it is not in my market arena. The 824 has an add-on capacity from DISA, door openers, use non-propritory devices (SLP, fax, cordless, any SLP device) Poor-mans' vm (BV) card, and on and on and on ----and voice mail which the new TVA 50 is full featured ---- I don't think I service a small business that would even scratch the surface of what it can do. Hope this helps. KLD

i have the taw-848 in my home, although i wouldn't call it a "mansion". it's a great system. the multicell wireless capability is really great. the 824 is a better value, but doesn't have multicell wireless.

Do you know if the multicell wireless are operating on a 2.4 or 5.8 model?
I heard that a 2.4 will not be good if your using a wireless internet network in your home/office.
Also, if you get the 824 which is a better deal but does not have wireless. Can you get a regular cordless phones with use of the "non-proprietary devices" feature.
Then program the speed dial button as extensions numbers for the different rooms in the house?
So its very simple to program from what your saying.
The BV card is like a cheap voice mail system?
How many expansions cards does this system have?
Does anyone use any of the computer interfaces for the Panasonic?
Also, how does the door openers work on the phone system? That sounds pretty amazing.
Thanks.

it is 2.4 ghz and i have 2.4ghz wireless internet and there is no interference at all in my home. the 824 allows for wireless but not multicell so you can't roam all over without signal degradation. with the 848, i can pick up the call in a back bedroom, walk outside, and around back to the front of the house with no degradation. i only have 2 cell stations for our property.
as for your other questions, you can find those answers in marketing materials.

Jim:
I use a Panasonic KX-TD1232 in my "mansion" with 27 stations and absolutely love it. True, I am a telephone technician, but still, Panasonic is the way to go in residential applications. Here's my take on their products (they are all similar in operation) from a consumer's perspective:
1. You can use ANY cordless telephone on the system. You don't have to buy the proprietary ones, but as an owner of two of them, I wouldn't use anything else. Expensive? Yes. Reliable? Yes again.
2. Voice mail can be included and the TVS50 is an example of one that's reasonably-priced and provides ample features/capacity for a residential user.
3. Yes, the door control is pretty nice. We have door intercom boxes at two entrances. We have them tied into our regular doorbell buttons since people traditionally look for them, not buttons on door boxes. Additionally, we use the door control feature to activate a door strike so that we can let the people in.
4. The phones I am using have the "XDP" feature where you have a second extension at the back of the phone for connecting a fax/modem, etc. They are fine and are a great feature, but you really can't get very good modem connection speed. As if anyone uses dial-up anymore. Still, a handy, but not so high-performance feature.
5. My young son programs buttons on the phones for one-touch access. He changes his frequently. It's about as simple as it gets.
Like I said, my system is an older vintage, but it is rock-solid and I am sure that the new systems are comparable. I wouldn't use anything else in a residential application, whether it's a mansion or an RV.

A properly setup Panasonic 824 with the Backlit LCD and Backlit keypad phones, 1 or 2 7895 cordless phones, ( again setup properly, these phone have 12 buttons so you see lines and have function keys like Page and Voice Mail Transfer, CID etc.) BV or TVS voice mail would be like an Atomic Bomb going off on top of all the other systems. Espicially if you use CID routing. All Daughters known callers go only to her phone or page only her, Grandma,s callers ring her phone, business callers ring or page for dads home office, screen via paging or phone ( i have a call for Cindy from Jeramy, either over the page or when phone picked up, special greeting for special friends by CID,doesn't mater what line they call on, Windows program for literate home owner, modem built in for non literate homeowner, video doorphone that connects to phone system with multiple monitors including TV, IP Cam can also connect to doorphone etc, etc, etc. KABOOM!!!! All the others are dust in the wind baby. They miss some licks on the business side sometime but they have residentil locked down tight! Go with a 848 or TDA 50 with same phones or better and the Celluar wireless phones, Hydrogen bomb time! And the Panasonic has a great celluar wireless that can cover any estate size property, they work, not to high, dollar wise. The wireless phone can be paired with a wired phone so you only need 1 number for each person with both a keyset and cell phone. Compleat CID log functions available on the cell phones. For computer interface such as caller id screen pops or dial from outlook etc you need the TDA 50.
