Hello all,
I was wondering how I would be able to change the extention number on these (21) portable units (KX-TD7680) at our store? We are an end user. We started off with 21 (KX-TD7680) and we have lost/broke a few. Now If I wanted to change Extention 309 to 304 or change the Caller ID name from "F O M" to "A S M" how would I go about doing this? Do I need to use the Maintenance Console or can I do it using a 6 line phone?
We are using the KXTAW848 system as far as I know.

You could use the walking extension feature in the user manual.

Ok I just pulled that up from the Manual. Now what is the the extention PIN? Is it that number shown in the PBX settings? like 900304 for example. Or is there a default?

You can change the names and numbers through the handset, look up your user manaul in manager programming. if the default password is changed you have to ask your installer for it.

Ok, now would I need to use a 6 line phone and deregister the portable, then register it?

you do not need to dereg a handset to change its
number and name but the key is changing 304 to another number first.

No, like SNC said, just renumber it. You should deregister, just to make room for a new one, but leave that to the tech that sells you the new handset. Just remember what the 'renumber' is! John C. (Not Garand)
