Hi All, I havent posted here for a while and probably can find the answer i need if I browse, but here is my problem. i am using a dbs system and the original panavoice voice mail computer, upgraded only once in 2003. My problem is that when people dial in on a cell phone, and try to use the directory service to find a user, the tones don't sound right to the system and it hardly ever gets the initials right.
Is there a dtmf tone setting i can adjust or some other setting to make this go away? or do I have to get a new system. Thanx

There is no setting that I know of that you can change. It is probably the older boards in the Panavoice. You may be able to get a newer board and try to see if it works any better.
Another option would be keeping the DBS and getting a new voicemail system. There are many third party voicemail systems that integrate nicely with the DBS.

Thanx for the comeback, when you say some 3rd party work nicely with the DBS, what are they and how easily is the integration with the DBS system?

Your cell phone is prob using "short DTMF". You need to go into programming and change them to "long". This usually solved that problem. John

There are several to choose from. I have had pretty good luck with KeyVoice, Amanda, Repartee, and a few others. As far as the way they integrate, most are fairly simple. Most third party systems come with documentation on the integration procedures, some even have cheat sheets.

I want something I can install myself like the panavoice, using the 4 port type board. Thanks again for the help

They're all similar in features for the most part, so it would really be just a matter of preference.
Take a look at the Amanda for Workgroups voicemail.

The problem I find is that it takes a caller who's using a cell phone longer to input names that if they were using let's say a desk phone. There is a setting in the Easymade Applications screen to change the timer for callers that are dialing digits while in the directory. I think the default is 1000 milliseconds. Change it to 3000 (3 seconds) and see if it helps. It won't hurt anything to extend that timer.
