The literature says that this system is PC programmable. Unfortunately, the installer went broke after he put in the hardware, and I have not been able to get him on the phone. I just want to figure out how to set up system speed dial using the PC. Right now I am trying to start doing it by hand, but am unable to get past the place where I start to program. ENTER PROGRAMMING MODE requires "program", **, SYSTEM PASSWORD. It never asks for the password, but goes right to "hotline Mode", when I try to input the default system password. Anyone who can help would be a godsend.

Are you trying this at extension 101? It sounds like the extension you are tryin to program from doesn't have access to programming.

If you press program, ** and get a double or triple beep then that means that phone is not allowed to access programming.

It's possible that no phones have been given access to programming and you will have to program via PC. But try at extension 101 first.

Do you have any cd's that came with the system? I believe that the 848 comes with the PC programming software.

I am at 101 extension. Get three chirps when I hit Program **. Have disk but have never been able to figure out how to do the speed dial, and the manual is not helpfull.

Have you installed the programming software and connected to the 848 with a USB?

If you can't connect you'll have to get a local dealer to help you out.
