I replaced a Partner W/VM with a TDA100 and TVA50. Since the install they have been complaining of MW lamps with no message. Of course " The OLD system didn't do this", they erase the messages and it won't replicate for me so it's all 2nd hand info. As it is different users, I believe it to be abandoned calls during their personal greeting. I could understand if there was reorder tone, or some other noise on the line to hold it up, but these are silent until timeout. Is there any way to minimize this?

Thanks

N-S, The message waiting lamp is not strictly for voicemail.
If someone calls an extension through the intercom,
(station to station) and that extension is busy, if they press the message waiting button it will light the message waiting light of the busy extension.
Have them press intercom then the message waiting button and if it calls an extension other then the voicemail, that's what's happening.

Hello MrG,

I've had that other problem before. Worse, the person who set it was the Boss, with a locked office. It took a while to find THAT culprit!

At this location, when they press the Message key and it takes them to the VM not a station. They will have 2 or 3 messages with no sound at all, as well as some valid ones.

If you log into the TVA 50 and go to REPORTS, then MESSAGE STATUS REPORTS, then view reports, it will show you all messages in each mailbox with caller id info or ext info, when message was recorded (date/time) which may help determine if the message was a valid one.

One other thing that may or may not be an issue is the version. I think there was a fix in an upgrade about a potential audio problem. Always good to keep version levels current for who knows what fixes.

Also to help avoid getting hang-ups in mailboxs I change the Maximum Silence Time in system parameters/disconnect parameters from the default 10 secs to 5 or 6.

I'll check the logs on my next visit.

This install is less than 5 weeks old, but I'll check the version. I like the idea about changing the silent interval too.

You can also change the minimum message length to eliminate the hang up messages you may still get after changing the silence timer.

I haven't heard back since the Silent interval change.

I think changing the minimum message length hits closer to the problem though.

Thanks
