I have setup a Panasonic TES824. Currently it just has one CO line and one PT phone in Jack01.
When I pick up the handset and press 9 (outside line) It comes up with CO6 on the display and when I dial a number nothing happens.
I have an unconventional wiring setup, so am pretty certain it's something in that, but I'm not sure what.
The PBX is not located by the phone lines so I ran a length of CAT5 from the existing phone socket to the PBX. This CAT5 is wired into a junction box and in the phone socket I have piggy backed two wires from the CAT5 (blue & white/blue) to the existing connections. I'm guessing this should take the signal along the CAT5 to the other end along the blue & white/blue wires.
I have connected one of the modular jacks to the CO1 port on the PBX and then piggy backed the red (ring) wire onto the blue CAT5 wire and the green (tip) wire onto the white/blue CAT5 wire inside the junction box.
I'm assuming blue is ring and white/blue is tip.
The black wire is left unconnected.
However, like I say, I cannot dial an outside line and when I try to, the phone display shows CO6, when I assume it should show CO1.
Is there something else I need to do to get it to work? I think logically, the cabling should be right, but obviously, I can change this if not.
Any help / pointers would be hugely appreciated
edit: I forgot to add it also has the additional 3Co / 8 ext card, 2 channel voicemail card and OGM card installed if that makes any difference.

Hi
I've tried it in co6 as well and have the same issue.
I didn't see any mention of this in the manual but using Program 400 I have changed all the co lines to disconnected apart from co1. I assumed it would just allocate the lowest co line that was available.
It now shows c01 on the display. But I still can't make a call.
I guess I will have to check my connections. I tried plugging the module from co1 directly into the phone and it didn't seem to get any power.
I'm assuming just taking the face plate off the phone socket and piggy backing off the connectors inside should be sufficient to pass the line along the CAT5 wires?
I've basically just followed the principle:- Phone Socket Blue -> CAT5 Blue -> Junction box Blue -> PBX module Red Phone Socket White/Blue -> CAT5 White/Blue -> Junction box White/Blue -> PBX module Green
I don't see a problem with this.

If you are plugging the phone in to a Cat5 jack you should be using the white blu pair and the white green pair at the phone system end. It sounds like the data pair, white green isn't hooked up.

Hi
My mistake.
I double checked the phone socket (I can only check it outside office hours) and I'd wired it up wrong.
Piggy backed off the wrong connectors as I was rushed.
Managed to get it working now.
Thanks for your input guys.
