I have a outer division that I have hooked up with VOIP. There is a need to run four or more phones along a long counter top. The problem is only one data port leading back to the switch. Is it possible to daisy chain ip phones together making them work off the one port. I know I can use a switch but then I have to buy power supplies for each phone. Is is possible to link them together?

Please advise

How about a small POE switch? I personally never tried daisy chaining the phones together. If you are trying to power 4 phones on one POE port, you might have a power problem. I believe the power draw is 250ma per phone. That would depend on your data POE switch and its limitations.

I also would suggest going with a small POE switch and save yourself a lot of headaches. Check out the prices as they are very reasonable nowadays.

I did some testing, you were right; the power will not carry from phone to phone. However I did discover that you can daisy chain the phones from the computer port on the phone, as long as you have a power source for each additional phone.

Thanks for the advise
