I guess i`m not understanding the consept of MCG. I needed to make VM pilot number 8500 ring in a delay 2, so i programmed it in MCG 8600 and went to DIT and did dialing digits to 8600. Well for some reason it would not let me do this in a delay unless i had another extension immediately. I tried putting 8600 in a delay which it showed it did but i clicked off the screen and went back and it changed it back to immediate. So i put all the extensions that rings immediate in the MCG 8600 plus 8500 in delay 2. This worked, please help me understand why i was fighting this simple program. Second, the system delay ringer timer did not effect this. Third, now when there phones ring the intercom flashes green, is this normal?

You need to have at least one target ring immediately in a MCG. The way you have it right now is exactly how it works. The intercom does flash green because the MCG rings the PDN of all the members in it. If you don't like that, use a phantom DN instead of a MCG to delay ring to voicemail.

OK, thx. But do I need to make sure that all the phones I have ringing in key assignments are also ringing in the MCG? Or does it matter?

Those stations that have the trunk appearances set for ringing don't have to be in the MCG to ring on an incoming call. For these stations the trunk appearances will flash green.

The delay timer is adjusted in MCG (Prg 517) and not in system timer.

Yes, when using MCG, the intercom light flashes green while the line thats ringing blinks red.

My advice, use delay 1 for voice mail instead, and set the timer accordingly in MCG (Prg 517). Try to have a group of extensions in the MCG. The reason is this:

If you have only 2 extensions...

Ext 8000 (Immediate ring) and VM 8500 (Delay ring) in the MCG. If ext 8000 is engaged (on intercom), the call will be directed to vm 8500 IMMEDIATELY without camp-on to ext 8000.

Don't use MCG unless you are trying to ring analog phones.
It sounds like you just want the Voicemail to pickup after 6 rings.
Just dit the calls to a phantom extension, that appears on the reception phone, do not make the phantom ring, it doesn't have to, create a SCF group for CFNA to vmail.
Then if extensions have line appearances make them ring immediate.

You have to have multiple intercom buttons on everyset in the MCG group for it to work properly. If 1 call is ringing on all sets in the group, and they have 1 intercom button,,,, that whole group is considered busy, the call will follow the DELAY 2 point immediate....making your second call auto attendant.
