I have a windows 2k computer running Internet Explorer 6 SP1. I have installed eManager 4.20A11 on the computer but when trying to connecto to my device in the select equipment section I get the following error "Failed to connect to CIX/CTX, ip address : Undefined error 2147217389" My Toshiba dealer comes in with their laptop and they are able to connect to the system just fine so it cannot be a Toshiba problem it must be with this particular computer. The community string has been confirmed on both computers by the technician so that cannot be the issue. This computer and the Toshiba are on the same subnet and I can ping the Toshiba from this workstation. I just cannot believe my Toshiba dealer cannot figure this one out. It the problem just a browser setting that I'm missing? Thanks.

Windows XP Pro is the only supported OS for running eManager. Can you try it on a machine running that?

Same -2147217389 error here using eManager V4.20A11 with WinXP Pro with IE6. Toshiba installer claims... "The problem you are having is an IE / Firefox conflict. The eManager software won’t work Firefox." No reply after informing him that we are NOT using Firefox. Any help with this problem would be GREATLY appreciated.
UPDATE: Fixed it. I didn't have the Monitoring and Management tools installed from WinXP installation disc. Once I installed them I was able to connect immediately.
Toshiba CIX40 - WinXP PRO - IE6 - Network eManager V5.20A11a

donkey,
You got further than I in getting eManager to work with win2k. When I click on the eManager icon, localhost cannot be found. How did you get past that hurdle? I turned off my firewall and antivirus software.

Similar problem for me. Windows xp sp2, IE7. It was working fine for days and days, and then suddenly it locks up my PC. We tried installing it on 4 other PCs, similar specs except some with IE6, and none of them worked even when mine did.
WTF is up with this software? I have all the right windows components installed, etc. obviously b/c it worked great for probably a whole week.

For what it's worth.
This came straight from Toshiba, It did not work for me, but I thought I would through it out there any way.
***************************************
After an upgrade or a new installation of WinAdmin, you are getting a "failed to connect to CTX" window because of "Undefined Error" in the error details.
*Solution *1) Uninstall WinAdmin from the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and reboot. 2) When you PC boots back up click on Start > Control Panel. 3) Double click on Administrative Tools. 4) Double click on Internet Information Services. Internet Information Services Window will open. 5) Double click on [your computer name] (local computer) in the left hand plane of the Window. 6) Double click on Web Sites. 7) Right click on Default Web Site and select Stop. 7) Close Internet Information Services. 8) Install WinAdmin 9) Reboot after the installation has completed.
************************************************
Step 10 they forgot.. Go back to your default web site and restart it.
