Hey cool site... I am a die-hard Toshiba head from back in the day. I still love the product but have been removed from it because I work for myself now and more into the networks, PCs, etc. What a cool site!

I don't have the luxury of asking people around the "shop" tech questions because there is no shop..

Question : my laptop only has a PCI express slot not a pcmcia, my customer who's network i work on has a Stratagy voicemail and I need to make some changes to so mailboxes. My previous laptop had a pcmcia slot where i would put my SOCKET serial adapter in and worked liked a charm. Before I bought the SOCKET serial adapter i tried using a USB adapter but it sucked, hardly ever worked. Do they make an adapter for my setup? A PCIe to Serial converter, a better USB adapter?

Does Stratagy Admin work on Vista?

Very sorry if this question has been answered 1million times but my searching yielded no results.

welcome to the board.

I am not aware of such an adapter. Why not just use your old laptop? If the VM is a DK Card or IVP8, you can dial into it.

Stratagy AAdmin runs in a DOS window. I haven't tried it on VISTA YET.

Look at the Toshiba web site. Other techs mention that these USB serial adapters worked for them:

Sewell Adapter Model SW-1301
GoldX" GXMU-1200 USB to serial adapter
Perle Ultraport

My laptop has a serial port so I have not tried any of them. I looked at the site for Perle, and they have serial adaptors for PCI express but looks like a card for a PC. I have not seen a PCIe card for a laptop, so I'm not sure what it looks like.

Radio shack carries a Serial to USB adapter which can be used. We have purchased one and have used it, but for some reason we ended up having to go online and install the driver, because of a problem with the driver installation on the CD. Nothings ever easy!

I know a little about a lot, and a lot about little.

UAdmin 2.1 is backwords compatable with both. R3 was for the IVP8 Rev 1 with the tan faceplate. R4 was for the Rev 2 with the black or no faceplate. Uadmin covers both.
