I am stumped.... Customer has a CTX670, using DIDs, and fax server. When you dial one of the fax DIDs you get static after you hear the voice prompt to "press the start key on your fax machine when you hear the tone".

I think I have eliminated all the obvious (and some of the not so obvious). I deleted all the fax boxes and recreated them. Have ran chkdsk and Dfragged the drive. Reset the BPTU and the CSU. Tested the PRI. It doesn't matter what VM port the call is handled on and happens on either card. Building is undergoing extreme remodeling so there was a huge amount of dust in the machine, i cleaned it out. Is there anywhere else I should look.

The "press the start key on your fax machine when you hear the tone" sounds like a Stratagy prompt. Is is going to a Stratagy ES or MAS?

Any faxing is going to be connected to an analog port unless it is an IES 16/32. I don't remember if the MAS supports faxing. The new Micro MAS systems do support faxing.

I would start by checking the analog ports. Call directly to the analog extension and listen for static.

I would check the grounding before anything. this causes most of the faxing static issues....
