DK280 ring groups?
well I had a couple ring groups in our DK280 before out IVP8 took a dump and was set back up...when the IVP8 was set back up, it just so happens that the mailboxes that were used to setup 'directions' messages used 501 and 502 which happened to be the two ring groups I had...
basically, when the receptionist would step away from her desk, she would forward the phones to 501, 501 consisted of 3 other phones in the back of the office where operations peeps sit, then, if they did not answer within 20 seconds, it would roll over to 502 which dumped all calls into 502 at the 8 sec minimum allowable...
now it just rolls directly into 502 which is a direction message on the IVP8...
now, I was thinking it might be just as easy for me to duplicate the scenario with two different phdn's, 505 and 506, but, when I setup the 505 and 506 in call forward and then setting the owner to one of the operations peeps, it just rings that operations person's extension forever...it never rolls to the 506 which says to roll to 300 immediately...
I am LOST....
I just need to setup a forward to ring group that consists of 3 other peeps, then if they don't answer within an alotted time to dump to the voicemail front end...

yup, (not there right now) 300 is the voicemail and just from tinkering, 301,302,303,304 are also vm, maybe more...it is an 8 port card on the vm...

Just so I understand, you have 505 call forward on a no-answer to 506 which is call-forwarded immediately to vm? If so, why not just call forward 505 to vm on a no-answer to vm?

now that you mention it....
I was just duplicating what was there to begin with...not sure what the purpose was originally unless there was a backup group and then a backup, backup group....no need for that now...
ok, so I know how to make an extension part of a ring group, make the ring group/ext call forward to the voicemail, but now I must have something setup wrong in the voicemail because it is trying to go to leave a message for ext 506 in the IVP8...is this where I can employ that @G scenario?

ok, I think I figured it out....
Call Forward Assignments: 506 to 301, no answer, 20
Directory Number Administration: 506, 283 (phdn owner),(no voice mail call forward id code)
Then of course I have to assign a flexible key to all parties of the ring group, which we already had so I changed the phdn key on each group phone from 501 to 506 and then just pool lined the phdn 502 on the group phones....
this seems to work like a champ...
will have to test on monday because the phones are in night mode I believe, I don't know how to mess with that and it's Friday and I don't feel like blowing it up right now...but this seems to work by just calling 506 so I am hoping I fingered it out....

ok, now that I have time to test with the system out of night mode, I had the receptionist forward the phones to 505 like when she leaves her post, 505 consists of three phones in the back with phdn buttons assigned, if none of the three answer the phone after 20 seconds it dumps to 506 which is CF-AC to 301 (voicemail)
So far, this works perfectly fine and just like it used to, except, it physically 'rings' the phones, but there is no audible ringing on the phones....any help with that one...

Would anyone happen to know the program number/code for setting a call forward to a specific call group/group of ports, to have those specific extensions forward when a certain flexible button is pushed?

okey dokey, I fingered it out...finally....I found the reference to the *71-*73 thing, looked at it a couple of times, couldn't figure out how to change the port that was displayed on the screen...just hit enter and find the relevant port/ext combo you want to deal with, then I added the three phones in the back to immediate ring on 505, saved it...went to test after about 30 seconds..it was still saving but I thought for sure it would not take that long...it did not work...arrggh...back to the drawing board...NOT!....came back to the desk and saw it was still saving...waited this time....tested it...BAM! works like a champ now... I don't know how you REAL phone guys can remember all this stuff...I will forget it in about 10 minutes... Thanks for all the help...(for now anyway... ))
