Hello. What would be the easiest way to find out how many phone lines our current CIX40 system supports. We currently have 6 lines coming in and we hope to add additional lines.

Thanks!

Depends on the vintage of the cabinet. New cabinets can take up to 11 old 10.

4 on the main board (3 if it is an older cabinet)
3 on the expansion board
4 on the option card

If you have IP Phones, then your option card slot is already in use.

CHSU40A is the older cabinet. Only supports 3 lines in the base cabinet
CHSU40A2 is the newer cabinet. Supports 4 lines in the base cabinet.

Voyager - thanks for the reply and information on the cabinet. If i'm understanding this correctly, we have reach the limit of phone lines supported on this system (6 lines). Correct?

What might be some options to add more lines?

If the system can take a sip trunk. Would it be possible to move the high volume sales calls to that sip block and order a dedicated voice circuit to sales numbers and that sip trunk. If the box can handle that physical
connection then we could put up to 23 lines to the sales people behind
their numbers and keep the other 6 lines for the rest of the business. Does this sound feasible on a CIX40 system?

I just looked up the maximum configuration. With the R1 hardware like you have, you can have up to 10 lines with a GCOCIUH1A with no IP card.

With an MIPU 16, you can have up to 6 POTS lines, and 16 IP ports with an MIPU16, which can be SIP trunks, IP stations or a combination.

The newer R2 hardare supports 1 additions line on the base cabinet and up to 24 IP ports with an MIPU24.

You will likely have to upgrade softwaqre to support SIP trunks.

Looks like we have an MIPU 16 w/ 6 lines. Can anyone recommend a SIP provider? Our local installer/dealer is moving at a snails pace and we need to get more lines asap. Has anyone used Skype for SIP on a CIX system?
