I am contemplating some grooming of customer's systems with the XTS systems as I like the features provided with FP2 and wanted some input from some that have used the new FP and what may be troubles have been encountered (if any) with the upgrade process.

The upgrade is easy, but I did have a problem with my in-house system. According to the instructions it was supposed to reboot itself during the process and never did. Make sure you've got a good backup of the database.

We have worked with it on a few sites, mostly instances where we really "needed" the features that FP2 offers.

Yes, the upgrade procedure never seems to go as well as indicated in the manual. Something always ends up not working exactly as described. Still, they strongly advise that a backup be done via their WinDBA program that is specifically designed for this activity (the most recent version). Also, don't count on anything being retained in the existing database, do a full backup and reload it through WinDBA.

The only thing I have noticed that can mess you up is that preset forwarding has changed dramatically in a good way. You need to remember that you must now set a day, night and special forwarding destination for the stations and DID numbers. If you just set the day destination, the system doesn't add them to the night and special areas. We found that out the hard way, but that's a small price to pay when you realize how those can be set differently all over the place.

All in all, we have not had any legitimate problems with it; all have been our mistakes.

How come there's always enough time to go back and fix it a second time?

I have FP 2 running at numerous site as a matter of fact i don't think any of our site aren't running it maybe 1 or 2. but if i were you i would pull the download in Hyperterm before you upgrade and after the upgrade and you have dip switch 8 flipped upload it in Hyperterm. i very rarely use windba for anything because of file corruptions that i have ran into. But i still will use it on occasions like building the database and LCR and DID programming but i still upload it to a .DNL file and upload in Hyperterm. You will need Windba 5.4 or higher to use FP2, the latest is Windba 5.7. hope some of this helps
