Stations are forwarded to VM 440

Dialing a station rings to the station then forwards to VM, then RNA [no response from VM]

Dialing 440 direct = RNA

Dialing any VM port direct [150 - 157] = RNA

ISAdmin program will not connect.

Of the 6 green LEDs on the VM card, bottom right is on steady, top right blinks at a steady pace.

Resetting VM card, LEDs appear to cycle normally, then settle in to the 1 on, 1 blinking mode.

Resetting STS system = no change to any of the above.

Vodavi Tech Support? Not getting much in answers from them; they suggest the possibility that if the time on the VM is more than 15 minutes out of sync with the STS, the VM will not answer. But the could not explain why the ISAdmin won't connect [cable is good].

They suggest connecting a USB mouse, keyboard and a standard monitor to the card to see if it is actually running, and if so to see what the VM system time is. I'll do that later tonight.

Any other ideas? help

Is there a way to default the VM card and restart it as if "New out of the box"?

I'd also recommend putting a monitor on it to see what its doing. Is this new out-of-box?

Is this new out-of-box?
Been in about 2 months or so; not sure of the date off the top of my head.

Was running fine.

OK, once I get a monitor on it, what SHOULD I see? Should it look like it does with ISAdmin?

Should look a Pathfinder (XP desktop, etc).

Got hooked into it;

Desktop was there fine, but there were some XP type Error Dialog Boxes;
Quote
Codebase Error
Error #: -20
Creating File
Filename
D:\Pathfi~1\Dbase\mbx.ndx
Quote
Codebase Severe Error
Severe Error: -930
Unexpected Paramater
14 Close ()
Quote
Application Error
Severe Error: -930
Unexpected Paramater
14 Close ()
Each one of them had a "OK" button, and when clicked on one error, the next error would display.

After the last error, the system continued to load. When completed, it would answer when dialing 440 with "Enter Your Mailbox Number".

Entering any mailbox number, including 100 is met with "Mailbox XXX does not exist".

Looking at the "Pathfinder" log window, it is scrolling various errors such as:

VEXDBASE:d4unlock failed, rc=-1
VEXDBASE:warning, Leaving a dirty record [0] unsaved

There are other errors in that box from the beginning of the load. I can post those also if they will help, but they all have to do with various dbase and setup errors.

Sooo, in summary, it looks like the card is running OK and the basic software is OK, but that the database is either gone completely or corrupted.

ISAdmin WILL login once the system is running, but errors out when trying to download the database. It goes to the "Processing and Downloading" screen and then to the XModem screen where it begins the download process, but errors out before completion.

Restarting the VM system just repeats the same process noted above. It appears to start loading normally, then displays the XP error dialogs quoted above; clicking through them gets the same results as above.

There had been no storms prior to this problem developing. I'm not even sure exactly when the problem started, probably over the weekend sometime.

So what do I do from here?

I plan on trying to call Vodavi as soon as they open, but I'm not hopeful about their response.

Being the impatient SOB that I am, I took a HUGE chance!!!

Don't want to go into too much detail here since doing what I did might or might not cause problems for others, but it had to do with overwriting the dbase with the default dbase files.

The system now loads normally, dialing 440 is met with the proper "Enter Password" greeting.

Much to my astonishment, the user greetings are still there!!!, I can transfer, leave messages, etc.

There are still some problems though;

The new user tutorial is playing on all stations the first time a mailbox is accessed; not a big problem.

I still cannot get ISAdmin to connect; still get the db download failure; BIG problem.

The mbx config paramaters are not there [ie. mbxs that were set to not take messages CAN, message lengths are not as they were]

I believe all the user passwords were defaulted, not sure until morning when some of them show up and can test them.

Admin by Phone PW and function is OK.

MWI is working; Sets and Clears.

So, for the most part, it seems OK, but I MUST get ISAdmin working again so I can try to upload the mdb backup and hopefully restore the mbx configs, or at least reprogram them.

~~~Update~~~
I overwrote a few more files; I can provide more details if anyone thinks it's appropriate.
Re-booted the VM again and I now have almost everything as far as I can tell; don't know about any of the user's messages.
I also have access via ISAdmin on another computer, so it's possible that the bad data did something to the ISAdmin files on this notebook. I'll probably delete it from this machine and re-install it.
As a result, I can now see that the message limits are back to the previous settings and that the users' PW have not been defaulted.
For the moment it looks like things are nearly back to normal.
I'm trying to run some of the reports to see if I can find when the problem began and if there are any clues as to what caused them.
