Hello, I was able to install the sts inskin but i have a change i need to make.
The auto attendant picks up after only 3 rings in day mode. The customer would like more time to answer before it goes to auto attendant.Would this be the preset forward timer in flash 40 page c button 8.and all I need to do is change the time say to 20 and what would you cosider a reasonable time there.
Thanks j.p.

Yes, J.P. that is where you would change the timer. We usually set this for 20 to 25 seconds.

I have a question related to this one. Is it possible to have the auto attendant set to pick up after a shorter amount of time when the system is in night mode? So far all I have been able to accomplish is to have both modes set for the same time. When in night mode I would like to have it set to pick up after 1 or 2 rings, or about 5 seconds instead of 25 when in day mode.

Well, one way that we have addressed this is for the lines to ring on only one analog extension when they system is in the night mode. That station port is then preset forwarded to the auto attendant after the appropriate amount of time.

The phones that normally ring in the day mode would need to have a ringing call coverage button for this analog extension.

It's kind of a round-about way of doing it, but we have been doing it that way for years. I am sure that there's another possible way to do what you want, but right now, I am drawing a blank.

TL1, it depends on the model. The newer STSe units can be programmed for different timers, ie day/night/special.

The older non-e units only had one preset forward timer. So, you would have to do what Ed suggested, or simply program the lines to ring the auto-attendant directly in night mode. Of course you wouldn't have the option to manually answer the call.

Yeah, Larry, I know what you mean. I kind of made the assumption we were dealing with an older one since the original thread started with a question about an STS. I didn't want to complicate things by pointing TL1 toward something that may not exist. I thought about those additional timers too because they have really come in handy on larger systems, especially with DID's to work miracles!

I agree Ed! They make the system very flexable.

It is the older STS system and was afraid that my options were limited. I think for now I'll leave it as is. It is not causing any problems just an annoyance for a couple of people who come in early before normal office hours. Thanks for the help and suggestions.
