I purchased a new in-skin HDD and installed it in an STS solt #7. While connecting with a computer it tells me that password timeout and so I can not connect. Vodavi tells me that I should use 100 or 110 and a password of XXXX but it just gives me a timeout error. When I conenct a monitor to the VM it tells me com 2 and the screen says connect come 1 to com 2

Edited for password

The mailbox/password combination are correct (unless they have been changed from factory default) but please do not post passwords.

Are you sure you're serial port is good on your laptop? Are you using a USB adapter?

Is the voice-mail working when you dial 440?

Are you sure you have the correct cable? The Dispatch took a different cable than the STS HDD. I believe the HDD needs a straight thru cable.

The hard drive in-skin is programmed with the same straight through that is used to program the STS KSU only you plug it into the in-skin card. “Just making sure” but lets get that out of the way first.
Second, call a voice mail port directly and try logging into the mailbox of 100 if the password was changed? They must match when using the in-skin admin interface program. If you cant’ log on through the phone you won’t log on through the Admin
Make sure that you are set to RS232 direct and you are using a com1 on your laptop.

Customer: I have a hum on my line?
Tech support: Is it a tune I would recognize, like hum hum on the range......

Thanks for your help. I was using the cable for the dispatch and I swapped it to a modem cable and it was fine. Can't belive that 45 minutes on the phone with tech support and no one thought to ask. Thanks again
