Anyone familiar with the Picazo-Telecor? I have a Telecor VS1 system that's down. It has dial tone going in, but no signal to the Nortel Jazz4600/460 phones coming out. Extensions all down. I don't see any uplink port or network connection. Shouldn't there be one?

Try connecting the Jazz phones into ordinary jacks to see if they work. They're just 2-line analog sets.

Yes, the analog lines work on the sets. But, analog sets work on Avaya partner phones as well, and I needed to know where to go from here. I am hoping to use a couple of these as analog sets in conjunction with a new Avaya Partner system, if the system has to be replaced.

Rather Be Fishing says that the Picazo is dead, but it appears to me that maybe just the Telecor VS1 needs a card or replacement.

Before I write it off, could someone explain to me how the thing works? Is it VOiP? DOes it work on a network? If so, where does the network plug in?

I stopped working on them before they became Telecor. If it's the same model as when they were Picazo/Dash, it's not IP-based and has no ethernet ports. I'm confused as whether you are trying to determine if the phones that were used on the VS1 are good or if the VS1 is still working.

I have seen the Picazo/Dash around here its a cheap pc wannabe phone system not even heavy enough for a boat anchor. I'm not sure about this but the customers around here have been told by the original dealer that they can't be repaired have to replace.

If it was built after 1980 don't expect it to work right.

Well, the customer insisted I replace the Telecor PEU 200 port expander unit despite my advice to get a whole new system. The cost of a new system was about the same as replacing the entire Telecor-Picazo system, but you can support/get parts for- a new system, but not the Telecor. I was able to find a used Telecor PEU200 card, and told the customer it's his crap shoot.

I'm still not sure whether the CSU has the A/D converter chip, or the Telecor. IOW, which provides the extensions with dial tone? The lights on the phone come on after reboot, but although there is dial tone going into the PEU 200 there is no dial tone on any of the extensions. I am guessing that the Telecor PEU 200 supplies dialtone and extension power to all the sets and the CSU provides the system config data and VM. I could only find one CSU that was part of a $3k package. That's $2.5k more than I wanted to spend, and was one of the five I was told still exist. So, no new Picazo PC CSU, just the Telecor PEU 200. I'll know in 5 days if the Telecor PEU 200 was the defective unit, and I'll keep the board posted.

Sure, it's a sure solution that replacing both towers-the CSU AND the Port expander Unit is a sure fix, but I still wonder if anyone knows which unit might be defective, the CSU or Port expander unit?

Hey, this is likely a dead thread, but we've got a picazo phone system going out the door. if you need parts... its a 40+ phone system hooked up to 2x T1 lines, with server, phones, the phone to server adapter boxes(what are those called?) go ahead and send me an email if you are interested. It doesn't look like it has much resale that I can see...
or give me a call, I'm in San Francisco, 676-0543
