Again, thanks for all the input.

I agree that this is most likely a ring voltage issue. I doubt that many people see this problem because the cable company does mostly residential service.

This system is in my home office, and I did the install. Many years ago I paid for a lot of college working on what was called "interconnect" - private phone systems (mostly 1A2 but also some crossbar) in the era when the Bell required interface boxes to isolate "unreliable" private systems from their networks. My day job now is as a consulting electrical engineer, so I don't have ready access to spares. Looks like a new CPU would be almost $400. If it comes to that I'll probably just replace the system with a DSX.

I agree with Dan,I had the same problem with the local LEC,I was finnally able to convince them that 57 volts was too low for ringing voltage, they changed their equipment and the problem went a away.I think your system is fine,I would put more pressure on the LEC.It was a headache but it worked for me. Thanks Jayman

Jayman,

Thanks for the input. I asked that they turn the ringing voltage up as high as possible, but either they didn't do anything or 57 volts RMS is as good as it gets. I'll ask again.

Martin
