Has anyone seen this problem...

Calls in from cell phone
goes to Instruction menu 001/002 D/N
Can hit code to activate dial by name feature.
When asked to enter digits for the name the in-mail does not see/detect them.
I have tried with different phones and different carriers, some work, some don't.
I remember something similiar but not like this..any ideas?
TIA

see if this helps out

This will allow the caller to dial 5 from the Main Greeting and get to the directory. At default the directory is set for First-Last name lookup.
47-07-01 Set Routing Mailbox 4 to Active Yes (1).
47-07-02 Set Routing Mailbox 4 to Type Directory (4).
47-13-01 Set Table 1, Key 05, to Action GOTO (7) and Data 004.
15-01-01 Enter a First and Last name for mailboxes 1-10 (ext 101-111).
47-15-03 Confirm Routing Directory Mailbox 4 is set for First (0).
47-01-16 Confirm name format is set to 1stLst (0).
47-02-15 Set each mailbox 1-10 for Directory List 2.
47-15-02 Set Mailbox (directory box) 4 to use Directory List 2.
47-15-01 Set minimum characters callers must dial for Directory Mailbox 4 (default is 1).
47-15-04 Set desired transfer method used by Mailbox (directory box) 4.

It sounds to me like a DTMF reciever problem in the IPK2 or the DTMF sender has a too short DTMF signal send. Should be 100ms to be efective. I have seen some senders only sending 60ms and that can be too short on some IVR and VMS systems. Cell fones seem to be one of the main problems..

I can see that...but why does it detect the access to the directory..but not anything after that?

Call in "Instr 001"
dials 7 "Please enter the first 3 letters of the persons first name"
Dials 7,8,9 (Suz) "Nothing" "Please enter the..."

Try it from my cell...Works good
Try from house phone... Works good

Is Suzie's name programmed at the station..... "Suzie" will appear on the display (left side)?

I believe the InMail in the IPK II works just like the IntraMail in the Aspire. The Dial-by-Name directory is driven off the name programmed at the station.

I ran into a similar problem where there was a directory name conflict..... the customer's name was "Subash", his extension was 310.... stations 304 - 309 were non-display sets and were not given names..... other than the factory default of "Sta 304", etc. When the user entered the directory and dialed the first three letters of his name S, U, B (782) it matched S, T, A (also, 782). The caller then heard "extension 304, extension 305,... etc).

System programming is ok...Works ok with a desk set or with some cell phones..

Problem is with only a certain number of cells phones...

Is there a way to adjust the DTMF detect signals value on the IPK II. I am loooking but I can't see anything that jumps out at me..

Trunks are PRI..

Are the callers pressing # after entering the first three letters of the name?

There is a DTMF patch you could try. Check the NTAC website...
