I pulled a MIFM-U10 running version 5.00 and I'm attempting to upgrade it to V6.11. I've got the ETU for the EPROM and it states to install the EPROM and then turn off SW1 and turn on SW2-1 and SW2-2, which I did. I put the MIFM back in to the cabinet (IPK) and the ETU states that LED1 should blink and then turn off (typical of an NEC upgrade). However, when I put the MIFM back in I get a delayed LIVE blink: ..-------..-------..------ (dots represent blink dash represents steady). LED1 never lights up. I tried reseting the MIFM and powering down then up, nothing appears to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you used the method below all should have gone well.

Section 3: MIFM Firmware Upgrade Procedure

Use the following procedure for firmware upgrade of the MIFM-U( ) ETU.

1. Remove the MIFM-U13 ETU from the KSU.

2. Mount the EPROM labeled “MIFM v 6.10” onto the MIFM-U13 card (IC8 socket). Please
refer to Figure 2 below, for the diagram of the MIFM-U13 ETU.

3. Set the switch SW1 to the OFF position (EPROM), and then set DIP SW2-1 to the ON
position.

4. Install MIFM-U13 ETU into the same slot from Step 1 of the KSU. Note that LED 1 is
flashing.

5. Once the software has been transferred, LED 1 stops flashing and then goes off.
Remove the MIFM-U13 card from the KSU.

6. Remove the EPROM, and set the switch SW1 to ON position (FROM), and then set DIP
SW2-1 to the OFF position.

I have done several upgrades like this with no problems.

I have seen this lamp flash issue in MIFM cards an can happen when SW1 is set to EPROM when put back in the switch or it can mean that the MIFM card is stuffed and has to go back for repair..

Paul,
Thanks for the reply. I did everything that you mentioned. My set of instructions is identical to yours. When the LIVE lamp flashed as mentioned in my first post that was during the "attempted" upgrade. When I remove the EPROM and flip everything back to default the board works fine. A check on 8-1 reveals that the board is showing up with the old V5.0. I guess at this point I have to figure out what's defective, the board or the EPROM. As far as I can tell the board appears to be fine.
