Hi all.

The trouble Im having with ssh is that a few minutes after I've successfully logged into a session with another host, the vty freezes and I get this error;

'Network error: software caused connection abort.'

I've noticed that immediately after this the public ip assigned to my router changes. I'm guessing that my isp has a problem with me port forwarding or something but I'm not really sure what the problem is or how to fix/get around it.

thanks

oh yeah and I'm using putty from xp to tunnel to linux at port 22.

If your provider is acting this way, it's time to change providers.

Nothing you can do about your provider changing your WAN IP.

Some ISPs limit access through port 22, unless the router is specially configured (and capable of accepting SSH connections). If you have a dynamic WAN IP, there may be a trigger to renew the address just to break an "unauthorized" connection.
I suggest you google "Dynamic DNS". Some of the dynamic dns clients allow tunnels in a very user-friendly manner.

definitely use dynamic DNS, if for no other reason so you don't have to remember your IP, names much easier.

Also another thing to try is use certificate based authentication and change SSH port to something other than 22.
