I am using a VSR Voicecentre 4.1 and trying to interface it into an NEC 1000 IVS. I can call it on the pilot number and it answers and plays the AA but when I choose a selection to tranfer to an extension it will not transfer out. I get a busy signal in the ear and the message on the current activity is "checking for dialtone" then "tranferring menu: RNA"

Which system in the VSR programming should I use? The choices I have are NEC Professional 1, NEC Professional 2, NEC 2400, or NEC Mark II.

Do I also need to edit the tranfer code? It is currently set to "&,"

Thanks,

Scott

Um, none of those are correct, but I suppose 2400 is most likely to have similar parameters. "&" should be correct, I believe that that represents a flash.

But the VSR is typically COV integration, isn't it? Are you sure this is an analog intergration?

VSR has analog integration. I would suggest getting a digit grabber. You then can make up any string you need via IB masks. The & is a flash, but you will need to ensure the flash timing is correct. I had setup many VSR's, I don't think any of them worked out of the box using the templates they provid.

Yeah it is definately an analog integration. The only two systems I have had sucess out of the box with VSR are two different Vodavi systems. This is my first attempt to connect to an NEC.

Thanks for the responses,

Scott

any reason you are using a voice mail that hasn't been made and supported for 5 years? You would be better with an Active Voice or KeyVoice on the NEC. IMO, there were few voice mails designed more poorly than the VSR.

Well I am using this voice mail because this is the phone system in my house. I make do with what I have since I don't have the funds to buy a new VM system.

Hehe, I had a 48 line Vodavi 2896 in the house before the NEC. Always joked about reselling phone service to the neighborhood.

I am certified on the NEAX200 IVS2/IPS so when I happened upon the 1000 I went for it.

We had a 2000 IVS2 connected to a VSR at work at one time before getting an AD-40. I just don't remember when we did to get the thing to work since it was about 4 years ago.

You can often pick up a used Lingo VM for around $50-100. It programs much like the later Active-voice products, and at 50 MBs/2-or-4-ports, is probably better suited to your home.

grant it VSR isn't the best system out there, it is useable and is still in business. Digit grabber will be your best friend. especially if it is only in your home you have time to play with it. It is much easier to troubleshoot and fix than active voice.
