I guess the telcos are pushing PRI all over!! The really unique thing about PRI is for the most part it's either go or no go. Key systems equipped for PRI usually do not have a very powerful test function whereas PBX systems have extremely good PRI test function. To help the smaller systems, I would suggest an good external CSU/DSU.

Good start. But it will not tell You if you have the Trans Rec reversed or if the protecall is SF or ESF, AMI or B8ZS. I had A mux optioned for ESF but it was putting out SF no matter What I did.

I have contracted to do PRI/T-1 installs for some CLECs and tested other carriers ckts for my customer, and I really like the 2209. I sometimes freak my wife out by putting our home number in the calling number section and then caller her. Caller ID displays our number. She yells at me scaring the heck out of her.

I think for the intermintent issues on your T1's you will be better off learning to read the PM's on the HSDL carrier units.

I agree with Mark. If you can gain access to the T1 NIU, or HDSL remote (HTU-1) using a nine pin to nine pin staright cabel you can access the on-board PM registers of the equipment. At a minimum, the NIU/HTU-R will hold the last eight hours of PM in 15 minute intervalts, The last seven days, plus accumulated PM for the most current 15 minutes, and current day. T1 PM will consist of Line & Path events, Loss Of Signal (T1 LOS) from either input. Slips are not registered. The HTU-R will also include PM for the HDSL line. A very important feature considering if the HDSL path takes hits or fails, so will the T1 HDSL payload.
