Or as Webster would define it: 1: joking or jesting often inappropriately : waggish <just being facetious>. 2: meant to be humorous or funny : not serious

I 2nd an NEC SV8100 - It's been stunningly reliable - you could have one switch and 13 locations with IP phones or you could at greater expense, use SV's in each office, link up to 16 other SV8100's I think, with an SV8300 up to 46 locations if you think you'll have that much growth

Sorry for the confusion.
We have 13 office locations with a total of 73 physical phones.
I will look at the NEC equipment as well.
Just got a Cisco solution quote in for $40k less then the Shoretel....something is very wrong here.

In all cases of VOIP, your communication will only be as good as your network and broadband connections. Make sure you KNOW how much they are going to cost. NO OOP'S, allowed! The contract should say FULLY OPERATIONAL within 1 week. And no penalty or charge if it isn't. As well, they pay any costs you incur if they fail! Bet they WON'T sign it! See where I'm going with this?

I understand.
Going through the quotes side by side show me some of the differences.
Cisco phone $150 Shoretel Phone $250
With 73 sets there is $7300 right there.
Then the Shoretel licensing seems to be more then double $192 vs $92.
That would account for $16,500 after tax. Ouch. The rest seems to be in the setup/training/maintenance areas.
Our broadband/WAN is rock solid, it has been up and running for 3+ years with minimal down time. Most due to a crew cutting a main fiber line for the entire area! There is already a Cisco hardware VPN setup from all remote locations to the main hub sitting on 10mb fiber. So I am confident it will handle what I am planning.

Don't forget to factor in year 2, 3, etc. for support/licensing. That is a BIG recurring cost in most VoIP implementations, ShoreTel and Cisco included (especially Cisco). Also servers will be needed...not sure how many Cisco, but only one for the ShoreTel.

I would still shop around. You have really a rather small app and after looking at you web site I would think that having a working phone and redundancy at ea. location would be a mandatory thing. What tampasteve said as well, you have to look 5 years down the road at the continued expenses. The back end on some of this stuff is something else sometimes.

After you look at a bunch of systems side-by-side, one thing should stand out above all else.
Most all phone systems do the same things.
Price point is going to be a big consideration, rightly so. The NEXT biggest consideration should be the actual vendor that will be supplying all your new toys. NO matter how many features are listed in the product brochure, without a knowledgeable and competent installer the system may not function up to its maximum/advertised capabilities. Research your supplier with the same due diligence you exert looking at product slicks.
Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.
