No the 308 has different programming. To activate a line on the 308 you have to do the following.
In "Line Class Of Service" make sure the line isn't disabled.
With handset down at station 10
Intercom *746*
Press the line you want to add
Dial 2
Dial *
Press (Monitor or Speaker)to end

For Station Class Of Service
Intercom *746*
Dial station number (10-17)
Dial 7
Press line (Key1-3)
Dial (1-3)
Dial *
Press (Monitor or Speaker)to end
Hope this helps

I attempted the procedure you described without success. At station 10, when i pressed intercom and dialed *746*, the system returned fast busy. This is a Comdial Executech 308 system where all sets have line 3 setup as speed call key. What did I miss? Thanks for the reply.

How old is this system? There should be a white tag on the right side of the KSU that will tell you exactly what you have. If ITCM *746*gets you in.Then the steps in my other post will set up line three on your system. If ITCM*#746* gets you in then you have a (NO system) which programs like a 1024. Make sure you are programming at station 10 with the handset in the craddle.Let me know what happens.
If you would like I can fax you the program charts for either system.

you didn't miss anything. dtmf gave you the programming for the older 308 (tan) front, I think yours has a black front case on it, which is an "NO 308" which will program like openwire said ITCM*#746* and follow the 1024 manual you have. A fast busy means an error, make sure the handsets in it's cradle and your at station 10. (to find station 10 go to a phone and dial 0, where it goes, is station 10) try to use a phone that's in a back room somewhere because if ya try the test above from station 10 you'll be trying to call yourself. Hope that wasn't confusing. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]
