I have a G0408 installed with an expansion module. I had everything set up for programming from a terminal and got the system configured as I wanted it.
But, SOMETHING happened. I have not been able to get any trace of communication on my terminal. I've made new cables, used RS-232 monitors in-line on the cable, tried just about every comm setting possible starting at 7-e-1@300bps.
I never changed the default PWD on the VDT, but now it appears that I can't even get into pgm at station 10. Should the display on my impression phones give me some indication that I successfully logged into programming?
Once I *#746*, the intercom dialtone goes away, but pressing any key sequence disconnects me.
While I had never done any programming from the station side, I do have the big bonder-manual and think I'm doing everything right, but can't get in.
Does anyone have any helpful suggestions where I should start again?
One more thing, not sure if this matters: I also have a adti connected that permit me to use some of my regular cordless phones on the comdial system. I thought maybe that was screwing things up, so I tried connecting (via VDT and station programming) with the atdi disconnected, and I still couldn't get anywhere.
Is it possible that there has been some hardware malfunction that will prevent me from EVER getting into programming again? If so, how do I tell that -- I'm thinking of doing a system reset to defaults, but if I can't get into programming, then I'm really screwed.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Try doing a system reset by powering down the system for about 20 sec. Then power it back up and see if you can get in. Yes, your station display should tell you that you are in programming mode at station 10. Also check your terminal settings and make sure they are right, usually it's the baud rate that has changed causing you not to get in.
Note: The reset above will not erase your programming, I wouldn't do a default reset until it's absolutely necessary.

OK, sounds good DTMF, I'll try that. Is there a reset method/option that will reset the communication settings on dataport A and not erase my station / line settings? Also, should I be able to get into programming only at station 10, or does it work at 10 and 12? Thanks very much. <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by dtmf: Try doing a system reset by powering down the system for about 20 sec. Yes you should be able to program from 10 or 12, just do the reset as above so that you won't loose any programming or settings.

per DTMF:disconnecting power should allow you back in.
The DSU's have a lockout built in so if you are programming via RS-232 the phone programming code will not allow you in. If you don't log out prpoerly from the RS-232 port the system has a timer (I think it's 2 min.) and it won't let you back in through the phone.
Also the later revision software will allow you to change the installer password.

![[Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]](https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/biggrin.gif) Got it! ![[Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]](https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/biggrin.gif) Thanks to all for the help, and also those that helped off-line in e-mail. I'm not sure what had been going on, but I'll try to summarize. It looks like perhaps I had been able to get into programming at station 10 after all, there just is no indication of such on the impression (2202?) phones that I have. Is this normal. So, I found the section in the manual where I could set the baudrate and comm settings via programming and I did it, using the sequences outlined there, even though there was nothing in the LCD. Since the feature buttons were lighting up in accordance with the keypad presses I was making, I assumed I was in the right spot (button a2 would light up when I pressed 02 on the numkeypad...). Turns out my comm settings were completely fubar'd and even though I thought I tried all combos on my VDT, I must have missed the wierd setting I had configured. I reset it to 9600-n-8-1 and the next time I hit return on the VDT, I saw "Input Password"! My wife wanted to know what I was so excited about. I tried to tell her and she called me a geek. I'm used to it. Is there a way I can force the impression to display the programming "conversation" in the display, or is that just a feature of these cheap stations ![[Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]](https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/confused.gif) ? Now, I do have another question, but I'll post that in a new topic. Thanks again-

You should get a visual feedback from the LCD when in programming. The only thing I can think of is that you have the display turned way down.

The display appears to be working. It displays the date and time, and also the "OPTIONS" button above the third button directly under the display.
This display changes when I make a call, or ring someone on the Intercom. It also changes dynamically if I choose "options" -- it lets me make some station preference changes using hte three buttons directly below the display.
However, when I go into programming, the date/time and the word "OPTIONS" just sits there.
It's weird, but I'm just happy I can back in my VDT!
Thanks again DTMF. You are most helpful.
