DX-80(A33), HD-VM Is it possible to make entries to the "spell name" directory via the Supervisor's MB (or any way using a set) and if so, how? Thanks-Brent

Yes. In the teleparameter section of the manual look under mailbox setup, it is parameter 2000. Last name entry.

Thanks for the pointer but I still got a problem. I dialed into the customer from my cell and got into the Super's MB and into teleparameter 2000 and put in the first 3 letters of 4 different users in their respective MBs. I dialed in again, hit * for the directory, put in 3 letters and got: "There are no names that match those letters." Any ideas? Thanks--Brent

Make sure the user has recorded a name in their box, and I think also make sure the tutorial is turned off in that box.

As a tip, you can also leave the last name field blank so it will prompt the user to enter the letters for their name while going thru the tutorial. If you manually key in actual letters from your laptop, it won't prompt them in the tutorial. This is helpful because it puts the user in charge of ensuring they are in the directory. Otherwise, you can always turn the tutorial back on and let them go thru it again.

Just make sure your tutgetdr.voi, gt009998.grt, and spelname.voi all prompt for the same thing: last nameor first name. If you prompt in the tutorial to enter digits for last name, then your directory is set for first name, it obviously won't work. I ran into this and had to correct it at a site just today. All three are last name by default, so if changing to first name, always be sure to change it in all three places. The name, whether first or last, always goes in the last name field when looking at a mailbox from your laptop. This is the field the tutorial looks at.

every time i've set this up with the teleparameter it wont take right away but when I call in the next day its there. It's almost like it waits for the system to do its self check at night and then it works.

That's strange. I'm not sure what to tell you on that one.

On the older VM you either have to do a reboot or wait overnite because it reboots everynite.

really? All the systems I've seen reboot once a week at 3AM Sunday unless you re-write the batch file for the defrag.

Thanks for the response--There must be something to the "overnight reset" because names that I entered in tp 2000+item #(MB #)last night, that didn't work then, are recognized now. However, it's not that simple. I've found that this unit doesn't prompt the user to enter the first 3 letters of their last name in the tutorial unless I first enter 3 letters in the tp 2000+MB # (which doesn't work) but then the prompt shows up in the tutorial to let the user enter 3 letters and it does work, immediately. It's probably because there's some weird stuff in tp 2000+MB #. When I check the content of an item # (in tp 2000) that I haven't messed with, it says the entry is stuff like "B, A" or "D, pause, pause". Please comment if you're not worn out with this issue. Thanks--Brent

Oh yeah, is there a way to turn the tutorial back on other than resetting the MB? Thanks--Brent
