We have a customer that has Plantronics IST headsets connected to an FXISTM-C08S IST card in an MP5000. Calls are being placed on hold as if the port was flashed without any user input. I had a 30 minute conversion with the customer today and it happend twice during our conversion. For some reason the problem seems to be worse when the outside caller is on a cell phone. They are also telling us that the ports with headsets with noise canceling mics have this happen more frequent than the the regular mics. The problem has existed from day one. If the problem had only showed up after a period of time, I would feel we're dealing with a hardware problem. However that is not the case. Stumped and hoping someone else has seen this problem.

The system is receiving a signal it thinks is a hookflash. If not initiated by the operator, then the devices are automatically generating them. You might try narrowing the IST flash timing range. Monitoring the station and trying another brand of headset should also be considered.

make sure you turn off quick tranfer in cos for the ist ports...if the system sees dtmf or thinks it sees dtmf it will put the caller on hold to try to transfer Andy

Android, good call.
aweaver, please let us know what you find.
It wouldn't, by chance, be caused by an out of range unit or marginal battery, would it? I'm just wondering if it maybe generates a hookflash, or something that the MP5000 perceives as one, when the unit goes out of range, or drops out due to a marginal battery. I'm guessing it's not a battery problem, since you said it's happened since day one.
I just had another thought after submitting this reply and seeing FXISTM-C08 flash up on my screen. I wonder if, by chance, this board has that older firmware (2A or 3A, I think...the upgrade was something-B), and if so, if it has anything to do with this problem.

I didn't think of the quick transfer thing. I check and found that it was turn on. I've turned it off and will wait to see what happens! Thanks for you good suggestion Android!

Quick transfer is not enabled by default! If your customer uses this feature, you'll have to assign the IST's another COS should this solve the problem.
