Howdy,
My company has recently been contacted by a client who has an old Comdial Unisyn phone system. I am a certified Mitel SX-200 ICP, Samsung, and Vodavi installer and technician. Neither I or any of the other techs at my company have ever worked with a Comdial Unisyn system before.
The problem is probably an easy one, but my inexperience with the system is preventing me from fixing it.
Issue: One of the extensions appears to be blocked from making toll calls. When that extension grabs a line, I can dial "1" and any other number (except 8) and the call drops to dead air. The extension will call toll free (i.e. 1800, 1866, etc) correctly. This is the only extension on the system with this restriction and the client would like for it to be removed.
Question: Is there a key sequence for removing this toll restriction? Or, is a PC/Serial connection required via some communications software (ProComm, Hyperterminal, etc) to access the system programming.
Sidenote: I know that providing this information comes close to breaking the provisions I agreed to when I registered on these forums. But I am unable to obtain any support from Vertical on this matter and would really appreciate a helping hand.

This system is not programmable through a remote, all must be done from ext-10 or 12. The procedure is in the manual!

Your evaluation is probably correct that the station has a toll restriction. If a restricted station dials a restricted number then the line is automatically disconnected from the station - thus your "dead air". The programming manual for the system gives very clear directions for changing the toll restrictions. If you don't have a manual, then click on the link at the top of this page.

Thank you for your response.
I guess I didn't mention it in my original post, but I do not have access to the manual for this phone system. The current owner of the building was not the original owner when the phone system was installed. In fact, I think the current company may be the 5th in line since the system was installed.
They do have a station 10, so I follow you that far, but I don't know the commands to program the system.
That's the part I'm needing help with.

BillyBob,
My previous response was entered at nearly the same time I replied, so I did not see your response first.
I've tried to contact that company via email and telephone, but have not been able to get a reply either way.
I don't mind blatantly admitting that I was looking for a freebie here. I just need to get the issue fixed for our client. I'll keep trying the manuals company.
Thank you

I was able to obtain a copy of the manual elsewhere.
Thanks to everyone for the time they put toward this issue.

"Or the lack thereof" We cannot offer an extensive amount of help when your profile contains spurious information, such as - website: https://asdf, location: asdf

Whether it was exactly what you were looking for (a freebie) or not, I really don't understand why you would not just say thank you, and leave it at that. The people who responded took time out of their busy days to provide the information that they gave, and got the ball rolling on providing the help you were looking for, other than the "freebie". Bottom line is, you got your problem resolved. Hopefully, whoever gave you the manual at least got a thank you.

Seems like it would be a good idea for your customer to buy a manual for an old system since they don't have an installer who is knowledgable about their system. Whether you work on it or someone else does they will need a manual.

Yikes, that was a little harsh. I even offered JGuillote a good-quality .pdf manual for the Unisyn, but never got a reply. Everybody here was trying to help him/her....so I don't know what the big problem was...
