HEY GUYS!!!!
I have been having some big problems with the DX 120. The latest of these problems is with doing extention swaps on physical ports. For exsample. When I try to program extention 221 to port 1 it will not update when I send the files. I have just updated software from f17 to f19 with no problems. The site where I have the KSU installed wanted to keep all of their old extentions rather than lern new ones. I have battled with the tech guys from vertical and they don't seem to have an answer. Any one have the same problem or have a work around??? Also, is the ksu going to list the ports in the exrention feild based on the expantion cards or is it a listing default no matter what? HELP!!! :bang:

The engineer who invented this set relocation stuff should be drawn and quartered.
the 120 is a simple patch panel, just move the plugs around to give everybody the number they want. easiest way.

i agree with your statment and the same should go with the person who rushed out the dx 120 before getting all the bugs ( or atleat most of the ugly ones) however that leaves me with a lack of opptions for extention numbers. instead of 101 - 124 they want 221-245. once again i am still not able to get the correct programing

I think I mis-understood you, you can use the numbering plan under system Applications to set the extensions for 3 digit starting at 221. Mark

Engineers don't like auto set relocation either. In the early days at Comdial we had to have it in the systems if we wanted to bid on government contracts. Once again you can thank your government.

Trust me from my experience: You will cause strange problems in your system if you deviate from the default numbering plan. I had a system where the installer had changed extensions to numbers that ranged from 100 all the way up in the 300s, as he was traying to match previous extension numbers. Just because it CAN be done doesn't mean that it SHOULD be done! I went back to that site SO MANY TIMES for weird problems, many to do with voicemail. I eventually did a cold-start and reprogrammed from scratch, leaving the default numbering plan intact. Amazingly, the weird little problems seemed to disappear from then on. I would forget the old Nortel numbering plan and just reassign people based on the Comdial numbering plan. You'll save yourself a world of grief if you take my advice.

As far as I'm concerned, NEVER EVER deviate from the default numbering plan on any phone system.
Just saying.

Come on Bill. You know as well as I do that some systems don't have as "fixed" a numbering plan as the DX80/DX120. Some actually let you assign whatever number you want, in whatever order you want, within the parameters of the available numbering block.

Hi,
You are right 5 years. Some systems are better at this then others. The Comdial FXII/MP5000 has no problems changing ext numbers. That being said the DX80-DX120 should be left alone. It is not worth all the headaches to change the ext numbers. Just my advice after installing about 200 of the DX80/120's

Most Vodavi systems don't care for it much either.
Just saying.
